Country Music Icon and Jax State Trustee, Randy Owen '73 Surprises Fort Payne High School Students at Awards Ceremony
Fort Payne High School class of 2024 awarded more than $767,000 in scholarships from Jax State
Jacksonville, AL (05/15/2024) — Fort Payne High School was graced with a special scholarship awards presentation by none other than Country Music Icon and Jax State Trustee, Randy Owen '73.
Jacksonville State University (Jax State) proudly honored exceptional high school students during Fort Payne High School's senior scholarship awards program on May 14th. The event was attended by esteemed university representatives, including Dr. Christie Shelton, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs; Lauren Findley, Director of Admissions; Joseph Culver, Army ROTC Recruiting Operations Officer; and special guest, Trustee Randy Owen, Jax State Alumnus '73, Board of Trustee Member, and Lead Singer of the group Alabama.
Jax State extended its warmest congratulations to 24 outstanding Fort Payne High School students who have confirmed their commitment to join the university community. These students have exemplified excellence in their academic endeavors and demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership.
"The scholarship offerings at Jax State are as diverse as our student body, spanning a wide range from merit awards to leadership scholarships, Army ROTC scholarships, and a variety of other scholarships," stated Lauren Findley, Director of Admissions. "This reflects our commitment to supporting students in various areas of interest and talent." To date, the students in Fort Payne High School's class of 2024 have accepted Jax State scholarships totaling more than $767,000.
