Jacksonville, AL (05/15/2026) — Members of the media are invited to attend the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Randy Owen Center for the Performing Arts (ROC) at Jacksonville State University on Tuesday, May 26, at 3 p.m.
To accommodate photo and video coverage of the new facility, media will have access inside the ROC beginning at 2:00 p.m. for b-roll and photography ahead of the ceremony. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place outside the facility. Please note that the facility will be closed following the ceremony due to a private event later that evening. Please let Director of Public Relations, Josh Underwood, know if you plan to attend, so that accommodations can be made for the tour.
The ribbon cutting marks the official opening of the new state-of-the-art performing arts center, which will serve students, faculty, and the broader region through performances, educational opportunities, and community engagement.
Please note that Wednesday evening's grand opening concert, Live in Concert: Randy Owen and Friends, celebrating the grand opening of the Randy Owen Center, is a sold-out event and access will be limited to ticket holders. Jacksonville State University will provide approved event photography to media outlets following the concert for coverage purposes.
Additional public opening week activities will continue on Thursday, May 28, including guided public tours of the facility from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a 6 p.m. screening of My Home's in Alabama: The Randy Owen Story. Thanks to sponsorship support, the documentary screening is free and open to the public.
