Jax State to Accept Alabama High School Diploma Option B for Admission

Jacksonville, AL (04/17/2025) — Following approval from the Board of Trustees on Tuesday, April 15, Jacksonville State University is proud to announce that it will admit students with an eligible GPA who graduate with Alabama's Option B High School Diploma Pathway, in addition to students who graduate with Option A for undergraduate admission.

While the Option B pathway was developed to strengthen the pipeline directly from high school into Alabama's workforce, it does not limit students to that track. Jax State will accept it for admission and provide students with any necessary academic assistance needed for success.

"Alabama's Option B Diploma provides another pathway for students to pursue their goals, whether that means entering the workforce or continuing their education," said Jessica Wiggins, Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management. "Jax State is excited to offer admission to students who choose this pathway and support their continued academic success."

Jax State stands apart with a vast network of academic support services designed to promote student success. Through the Student Success Center, the university provides professional advising, success coaching, learning specialists, tutoring, and supplemental instruction -ensuring that all students, including those entering through Option B, have the tools and support they need to thrive.

"Accepting both diploma options ensures we remain responsive to the evolving needs of Alabama students, families, and school systems."
